Trunk (Remove and Install)

Remove

  1. Remove the trunk lid trim. See Trim - Lid - Trunk (Remove and Replace).
  2. Disconnect the LH and RH rear fog/reverse light electrical connectors.
  3. Disconnect the rear facing camera electrical connector.
  4. Disconnect the trunk exterior release switch electrical connector.
  5. Disconnect the LH and RH license plate light electrical connectors.

  6. Disconnect the trunk latch electrical connector.
  7. Remove and discard the bolts (x2) that attach the trunk harness ground straps to the trunk lid.
  8. Release the clips that attach the trunk harness to the trunk lid.
  9. Push the trunk harness through the trunk bulkhead and out of the trunk lid.
  10. Use a dry erase marker to mark the position of the trunk hinges on the trunk lid.
  11. Remove the bolts that attach the hinges to the trunk lid.

  12. With an assistant, remove the lid from the vehicle, and then place it on a padded surface.

2Disconnect the LH and RH rear fog/reverse light electrical connectors.
3Disconnect the rear facing camera electrical connector.
4Disconnect the trunk exterior release switch electrical connector.

5Disconnect the LH and RH license plate light electrical connectors.
6Disconnect the trunk latch electrical connector.
7Remove and discard the bolts (x2) that attach the trunk harness ground straps to the trunk lid.
8Release the clips that attach the trunk harness to the trunk lid.
9Push the trunk harness through the trunk bulkhead and out of the trunk lid.
10Use a dry erase marker to mark the position of the trunk hinges on the trunk lid.

11Remove the bolts that attach the hinges to the trunk lid.
12With an assistant, remove the lid from the vehicle, and then place it on a padded surface.

Install

  1. With an assistant, position and align the trunk lid to the trunk hinges, and then hand-tighten the bolts that attach the hinges to the trunk lid.
  2. Push the trunk harness through the trunk bulkhead.
  3. Install the clips that attach the trunk harness to the trunk lid.
  4. Install new bolts (x2) to attach the trunk harness ground straps to the trunk lid.
    Torque 8 Nm
  5. Connect the trunk latch electrical connector.
  6. Connect the LH and RH license plate light electrical connectors.

  7. Connect the trunk exterior release switch electrical connector.
  8. Connect the rear facing camera electrical connector.
  9. Connect the LH and RH rear fog/reverse light electrical connectors.
  10. With an assistant, perform the gap and flush measurement of the trunk assembly.
  11. Tighten the bolts that attach the hinges to the trunk lid.
    Torque 24 Nm

  12. Tighten the bolts that attach the trunk latch to the trunk lid.
    Torque 8 Nm
  13. Install the trunk lid trim. See Trim - Lid - Trunk (Remove and Replace).
  14. Clean the marks of the dry erase marker from the hinges.
1With an assistant, position and align the trunk lid to the trunk hinges, and then hand-tighten the bolts that attach the hinges to the trunk lid.
2Push the trunk harness through the trunk bulkhead.
3Install the clips that attach the trunk harness to the trunk lid.
4Install new bolts (x2) to attach the trunk harness ground straps to the trunk lid.
Torque 8 Nm
5Connect the trunk latch electrical connector.

6Connect the LH and RH license plate light electrical connectors.
7Connect the trunk exterior release switch electrical connector.
8Connect the rear facing camera electrical connector.
9Connect the LH and RH rear fog/reverse light electrical connectors.
10With an assistant, perform the gap and flush measurement of the trunk assembly.

11Tighten the bolts that attach the hinges to the trunk lid.
Torque 24 Nm
12Tighten the bolts that attach the trunk latch to the trunk lid.
Torque 8 Nm
13Install the trunk lid trim. See Trim - Lid - Trunk (Remove and Replace).
14Clean the marks of the dry erase marker from the hinges.
