Tie Rod End - LH (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  2. Remove the LH front wheel. See Wheel (Remove and Install).
  3. Loosen the jamb nut at the LH tie rod end.
  4. Remove and discard the nut that attaches the tie rod to the knuckle.
  5. Remove the LH tie rod end from the knuckle using a rubber hammer.
  6. Remove the tie rod from the steering linkage by turning the tie rod counter-clockwise.
    Note: Record the number of rotations for separation of the tie rod from the steering linkage.

2Remove the LH front wheel. See Wheel (Remove and Install).
3Loosen the jamb nut at the LH tie rod end.
4Remove and discard the nut that attaches the tie rod to the knuckle.
5Remove the LH tie rod end from the knuckle using a rubber hammer.
6Remove the tie rod from the steering linkage by turning the tie rod counter-clockwise.
Note: Record the number of rotations for separation of the tie rod from the steering linkage.

Install

  1. Install the tie rod end to the steering linkage by turning the tie rod clockwise using the exact number of turns recorded during removal.
  2. Install the new nut that attaches the tie rod end to the knuckle.
    Torque 180 Nm
  3. Tighten the jamb nut at the LH tie rod end.
    Torque 80 Nm
  4. Install the LH front wheel. See Wheel (Remove and Install).
  5. Perform the four wheel alignment. See Four Wheel Alignment (Check and Adjust).
1Install the tie rod end to the steering linkage by turning the tie rod clockwise using the exact number of turns recorded during removal.
2Install the new nut that attaches the tie rod end to the knuckle.
Torque 180 Nm
3Tighten the jamb nut at the LH tie rod end.
Torque 80 Nm
4Install the LH front wheel. See Wheel (Remove and Install).
5Perform the four wheel alignment. See Four Wheel Alignment (Check and Adjust).
