Motor Assembly - Rear (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Remove the rear drive unit. See Drive Unit - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  2. Remove the rear drive unit inverter. See Inverter - Rear Drive Unit (Remove and Install).
  3. Position the gearbox and motor assembly in the upright position on the service table.
  4. Remove the fasteners that attach the resolver cover to the motor assembly, and then remove the resolver cover from the motor.
  5. Remove the bolts that attach the motor assembly to the gearbox assembly.
  6. Set up the motor sling and gantry to remove the motor assembly.
  7. Use the gantry to gently lift the motor assembly from the gearbox.
    Tip: A trim tool can help separate the motor assembly from the gearbox should the motor assembly bind on lifting.
  8. Lower the motor onto the shipping crate or pallet.
  9. Remove the motor sling from the motor assembly.
  10. Remove and discard the motor assembly to gearbox gasket.

2Remove the rear drive unit inverter. See Inverter - Rear Drive Unit (Remove and Install).
3Position the gearbox and motor assembly in the upright position on the service table.
4Remove the fasteners that attach the resolver cover to the motor assembly, and then remove the resolver cover from the motor.
5Remove the bolts that attach the motor assembly to the gearbox assembly.
6Set up the motor sling and gantry to remove the motor assembly.
7Use the gantry to gently lift the motor assembly from the gearbox.
Tip: A trim tool can help separate the motor assembly from the gearbox should the motor assembly bind on lifting.
8Lower the motor onto the shipping crate or pallet.
9Remove the motor sling from the motor assembly.
10Remove and discard the motor assembly to gearbox gasket.

Install

  1. Install a new motor assembly to gearbox gasket.
  2. Install new stator phase lug o-rings.
  3. Set up the motor sling and gantry to install the motor assembly.
  4. Lift the motor assembly over the gearbox for installation.
  5. With an assistant, align the guides and carefully lower the motor assembly into the gearbox.
    Caution:
    Make sure to align the stator phase lug, jet ring, and inner shaft, and use a rubber hammer to gently tap the gearbox, if necessary.
  6. Remove the motor sling from the motor assembly.
  7. Install the bolts that attach the motor assembly to the gearbox.
    Torque 15 Nm +25 deg
  8. Install the resolver cover on the motor assembly, and install the bolts that attach the resolver cover to the motor assembly.
    Torque 15 Nm +25 deg
    Caution:
    Make sure to align the brush and motor.
  9. Install the rear drive unit inverter. See Inverter - Rear Drive Unit (Remove and Install).
  10. Install the rear drive unit. See Drive Unit - Rear (Remove and Replace).
1Install a new motor assembly to gearbox gasket.
2Install new stator phase lug o-rings.
3Set up the motor sling and gantry to install the motor assembly.
4Lift the motor assembly over the gearbox for installation.
5With an assistant, align the guides and carefully lower the motor assembly into the gearbox.

6Remove the motor sling from the motor assembly.
7Install the bolts that attach the motor assembly to the gearbox.
Torque 15 Nm +25 deg
8Install the resolver cover on the motor assembly, and install the bolts that attach the resolver cover to the motor assembly.
Torque 15 Nm +25 deg
Caution:
Make sure to align the brush and motor.
9Install the rear drive unit inverter. See Inverter - Rear Drive Unit (Remove and Install).
10Install the rear drive unit. See Drive Unit - Rear (Remove and Replace).
