Remove

Caution:

Brake fluid dissolves paint. Have clean towels and plenty of water standing by to wash spilled brake fluid off painted surfaces.

Note:

Dispose of used brake fluid in a manner consistent with local environmental codes.

  1. Disconnect 12V power. See 12V Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  2. Remove LH and RH front wheel arch liners. See Wheel Arch Liner - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).
  3. Remove the front HV battery skid plate. See Skid Plate - HV Battery - Front (Remove and Replace).
  4. Release the clips that attach the electrical harness to the LH frame rail.
  5. Remove the 12V auxiliary battery. See Battery - 12V (Remove and Replace).
  6. Disconnect the electrical harness from the ABS unit connector.
  7. Release the clips (x3) that attach the LH front electrical harness to the LH front frame rail.
  8. Remove and discard the bolts (x3) that attach the LH front electrical harness ground straps to the LH shock tower, and then move the electrical harness aside.
  9. Position the oil drain under the ABS unit.
  10. Remove the brake line tube nuts from the ABS unit, and allow the fluid to drain.
  11. Release the clips that attach the brake lines to the front body.
  12. Release the clips that attach the thermal beam hose to the body.
  13. Position the oil drain under the front brake line junction block.
  14. Remove the brake line tube nuts from the junction block, and allow the fluid to drain.
  15. Remove the nut that attaches the front junction block to the body.
  16. Remove the junction block and lines from the vehicle.
    Note: Move the lines forward, then to the LH side, and out through the LH wheel well.
  17. Position the oil drain under the front LH brake hose.
  18. Remove the brake line tube nut from the brake hose at the jounce hose bracket, and allow the fluid to drain.
  19. Remove the brake line from the vehicle.
    Note: Move the line forward, then to the LH side, and out through the LH wheel well.
  20. Position the oil drain under the front RH brake hose.
  21. Remove the brake line tube nut from the brake hose at the jounce hose bracket, and allow the fluid to drain.
  22. Remove the brake line from the vehicle.
    Note: Move the line forward, then to the RH side, and out through the subframe.
1Disconnect 12V power. See 12V Power (Disconnect and Connect).
2Remove LH and RH front wheel arch liners. See Wheel Arch Liner - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).
3Remove the front HV battery skid plate. See Skid Plate - HV Battery - Front (Remove and Replace).
4Release the clips that attach the electrical harness to the LH frame rail.
5Remove the 12V auxiliary battery. See Battery - 12V (Remove and Replace).
6Disconnect the electrical harness from the ABS unit connector.
7Release the clips (x3) that attach the LH front electrical harness to the LH front frame rail.
8Remove and discard the bolts (x3) that attach the LH front electrical harness ground straps to the LH shock tower, and then move the electrical harness aside.
9Position the oil drain under the ABS unit.
10Remove the brake line tube nuts from the ABS unit, and allow the fluid to drain.
11Release the clips that attach the brake lines to the front body.
12Release the clips that attach the thermal beam hose to the body.
13Position the oil drain under the front brake line junction block.
14Remove the brake line tube nuts from the junction block, and allow the fluid to drain.
15Remove the nut that attaches the front junction block to the body.
16Remove the junction block and lines from the vehicle.
Note: Move the lines forward, then to the LH side, and out through the LH wheel well.
17Position the oil drain under the front LH brake hose.
18Remove the brake line tube nut from the brake hose at the jounce hose bracket, and allow the fluid to drain.
19Remove the brake line from the vehicle.
Note: Move the line forward, then to the LH side, and out through the LH wheel well.
20Position the oil drain under the front RH brake hose.
21Remove the brake line tube nut from the brake hose at the jounce hose bracket, and allow the fluid to drain.
22Remove the brake line from the vehicle.
Note: Move the line forward, then to the RH side, and out through the subframe.

Install

  1. Remove the oil drain.
  2. Separate the front LH and front RH brake lines from the new bundle.
  3. Install the RH front brake line into the vehicle.
    Note: Move the RH front brake line in through the subframe from the RH side, then to the LH side, and then backward.
  4. Insert the brake line into the brake hose at the jounce hose bracket, and then use a crowfoot extension to install the brake line tube nut into the brake hose.
    Torque 23 Nm
  5. Install the LH front brake line into the vehicle.
    Note: Move the LH front brake line in through the LH wheel well, then to the RH side, and then backward.
  6. Insert the brake line into the brake hose at the jounce hose bracket, and then use a crowfoot extension to install the brake line tube nut into the brake hose.
    Torque 23 Nm
  7. Install the front junction block and lines into the vehicle.
    Note: Move the lines in through the LH wheel well, then to the RH side, and then backward.
  8. Install the front junction block to the body, and then install the nut that attaches the junction block to the body.
    Torque 7 Nm
  9. Insert the LH sill brake lines into the front junction block, and then use a crowfoot extension to install the brake line tube nuts into the junction block.
    Torque 23 Nm
  10. Fasten the clips that attach the thermal beam hose to the body.
  11. Fasten the clips that attach the brake lines to the front body.
  12. Insert the brake lines into the ABS unit, and then use a crowfoot extension to install the brake line tube nuts into the ABS unit.
    Torque 16 Nm
  13. Move the LH front electrical harness back to the LH front shock tower, and then install the new bolts (x3) to attach the electrical harness ground straps to the shock tower.
    Torque 8 Nm
  14. Fasten the clips (x3) that attach the LH front electrical harness to the LH front frame rail.
  15. Connect the electrical harness to the ABS unit connector.
  16. Install the 12V auxiliary battery. See Battery - 12V (Remove and Replace).
  17. Fasten the clips that attach the electrical harness to the LH frame rail.
  18. Install the front HV battery skid plate. See Skid Plate - HV Battery - Front (Remove and Replace).
  19. Install LH and RH front wheel arch liners. See Wheel Arch Liner - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).
  20. Connect 12V power. See 12V Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  21. Bleed the braking system. See Brake Fluid Bleed / Flush.
1Remove the oil drain.
2Separate the front LH and front RH brake lines from the new bundle.
3Install the RH front brake line into the vehicle.
Note: Move the RH front brake line in through the subframe from the RH side, then to the LH side, and then backward.
4Insert the brake line into the brake hose at the jounce hose bracket, and then use a crowfoot extension to install the brake line tube nut into the brake hose.
Torque 23 Nm
5Install the LH front brake line into the vehicle.
Note: Move the LH front brake line in through the LH wheel well, then to the RH side, and then backward.
6Insert the brake line into the brake hose at the jounce hose bracket, and then use a crowfoot extension to install the brake line tube nut into the brake hose.
Torque 23 Nm
7Install the front junction block and lines into the vehicle.
Note: Move the lines in through the LH wheel well, then to the RH side, and then backward.
8Install the front junction block to the body, and then install the nut that attaches the junction block to the body.
Torque 7 Nm
9Insert the LH sill brake lines into the front junction block, and then use a crowfoot extension to install the brake line tube nuts into the junction block.
Torque 23 Nm
10Fasten the clips that attach the thermal beam hose to the body.
11Fasten the clips that attach the brake lines to the front body.
12Insert the brake lines into the ABS unit, and then use a crowfoot extension to install the brake line tube nuts into the ABS unit.
Torque 16 Nm
13Move the LH front electrical harness back to the LH front shock tower, and then install the new bolts (x3) to attach the electrical harness ground straps to the shock tower.
Torque 8 Nm
14Fasten the clips (x3) that attach the LH front electrical harness to the LH front frame rail.
15Connect the electrical harness to the ABS unit connector.
16Install the 12V auxiliary battery. See Battery - 12V (Remove and Replace).
17Fasten the clips that attach the electrical harness to the LH frame rail.
18Install the front HV battery skid plate. See Skid Plate - HV Battery - Front (Remove and Replace).
19Install LH and RH front wheel arch liners. See Wheel Arch Liner - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).
20Connect 12V power. See 12V Power (Disconnect and Connect).
21Bleed the braking system. See Brake Fluid Bleed / Flush.
