Drain

  1. Remove the front aero shield panel. See Panel - Aero Shield - Front (Remove and Replace).
  2. Release the grey locking tab, and then press down on the tab to disconnect the oil pump connector.
  3. Position an oil drain container underneath the front drive unit oil filter.
  4. Use an oil filter socket to remove the front drive unit oil filter.
  5. Install the oil drain adapter on the front drive unit oil filter housing.
  6. Connect the fluid evacuator tube to the oil drain adapter, and then place the other end of the tube in the oil drain container.
  7. Connect the oil pump switchbox and XP-10 jump pack to the front drive unit oil pump.
  8. Press and hold the button on the oil pump switchbox until oil stops pumping out.
  9. Wait 60 seconds, and then once again press and hold the button on the oil pump switchbox until oil stops pumping out.
  10. Disconnect the oil pump switchbox and XP-10 jump pack from the front drive unit oil pump.
  11. Disconnect the fluid evacuator tube from the oil drain adapter.
  12. Remove the oil drain adapter from the front drive unit oil filter housing.
    Caution:
    If the oil drain adapter o-ring seal transferred to the front drive unit oil filter housing, place the seal back on the oil drain adapter.
  13. Apply a light coat of ATF-9 to the o-ring seal on a new oil filter, and then install the filter on the front drive unit oil filter housing.
    Torque 3 Nm + 135 degrees
1Remove the front aero shield panel. See Panel - Aero Shield - Front (Remove and Replace).
2Release the grey locking tab, and then press down on the tab to disconnect the oil pump connector.
3Position an oil drain container underneath the front drive unit oil filter.
4Use an oil filter socket to remove the front drive unit oil filter.
5Install the oil drain adapter on the front drive unit oil filter housing.
6Connect the fluid evacuator tube to the oil drain adapter, and then place the other end of the tube in the oil drain container.
7Connect the oil pump switchbox and XP-10 jump pack to the front drive unit oil pump.
8Press and hold the button on the oil pump switchbox until oil stops pumping out.
9Wait 60 seconds, and then once again press and hold the button on the oil pump switchbox until oil stops pumping out.
10Disconnect the oil pump switchbox and XP-10 jump pack from the front drive unit oil pump.
11Disconnect the fluid evacuator tube from the oil drain adapter.
12Remove the oil drain adapter from the front drive unit oil filter housing.
Caution:
If the oil drain adapter o-ring seal transferred to the front drive unit oil filter housing, place the seal back on the oil drain adapter.
13Apply a light coat of ATF-9 to the o-ring seal on a new oil filter, and then install the filter on the front drive unit oil filter housing.
Torque 3 Nm + 135 degrees

Refill

  1. Remove the fill plug.
  2. Place the oil fill tool in the fill port, and then open the valve.
  3. Fill the front drive unit with 1.75 liters of ATF-9 fluid.
  4. Close the valve, and then remove the oil fill tool from the front drive unit.
  5. Install the single tube extractor to the fill port. Thread the nut into the front drive unit fill port and aim the hose fitting downwards.
  6. Connect a Mitivac hose line to the extractor.
  7. Verify that the valve is closed, and then attach a shop air supply line to the Mitivac.
  8. Connect the oil pump switchbox and XP-10 jump pack to the oil pump.
  9. Press and hold the button on the oil pump switchbox for 60 seconds.
  10. Wait 60 seconds for the gearbox fluid to settle, and then open the Mitivac valve to draw vacuum.
  11. Once air is visible in the extraction hose, close the Mitivac valve and remove the shop air supply line from the Mitivac.
  12. Remove the Mitivac hose line from the extractor, and then remove the single tube extractor from the fill port.
  13. Install the dipstick special tool in the fill port.
  14. Press and hold the button on the oil pump switchbox for 60 seconds.
  15. Wait 60 seconds for the gearbox fluid to settle.
  16. Pull out the dipstick and verify that the gearbox fluid is between the two marks. Make fluid level adjustments, if necessary.
  17. Install the fill plug on the front drive unit.
    Torque 15 Nm
  18. Remove the oil drain container from underneath the drive unit.
  19. Disconnect the oil pump switchbox and XP-10 jump pack from the oil pump.
  20. Connect the oil pump connector, and then engage the locking tab.
    Important: Perform a push-pull test to verify that the connector is fully attached.
  21. Install the front aero shield panel. See Panel - Aero Shield - Front (Remove and Replace).
  22. Lower the vehicle.
1Remove the fill plug.
2Place the oil fill tool in the fill port, and then open the valve.
3Fill the front drive unit with 1.75 liters of ATF-9 fluid.
4Close the valve, and then remove the oil fill tool from the front drive unit.
5Install the single tube extractor to the fill port. Thread the nut into the front drive unit fill port and aim the hose fitting downwards.
6Connect a Mitivac hose line to the extractor.
7Verify that the valve is closed, and then attach a shop air supply line to the Mitivac.
8Connect the oil pump switchbox and XP-10 jump pack to the oil pump.
9Press and hold the button on the oil pump switchbox for 60 seconds.
10Wait 60 seconds for the gearbox fluid to settle, and then open the Mitivac valve to draw vacuum.
11Once air is visible in the extraction hose, close the Mitivac valve and remove the shop air supply line from the Mitivac.
12Remove the Mitivac hose line from the extractor, and then remove the single tube extractor from the fill port.
13Install the dipstick special tool in the fill port.
14Press and hold the button on the oil pump switchbox for 60 seconds.
15Wait 60 seconds for the gearbox fluid to settle.
16Pull out the dipstick and verify that the gearbox fluid is between the two marks. Make fluid level adjustments, if necessary.
17Install the fill plug on the front drive unit.
Torque 15 Nm
18Remove the oil drain container from underneath the drive unit.
19Disconnect the oil pump switchbox and XP-10 jump pack from the oil pump.
20Connect the oil pump connector, and then engage the locking tab.
Important: Perform a push-pull test to verify that the connector is fully attached.
21Install the front aero shield panel. See Panel - Aero Shield - Front (Remove and Replace).
22Lower the vehicle.
