Crush Can - Front - LH (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  2. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  3. Remove the cabin intake duct. See Duct - Cabin Intake (Remove and Replace).
  4. Remove the hood latch cover. See Cover - Hood Latch (Remove and Replace).
  5. Remove the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace).
  6. Remove the front fascia assembly. See Fascia - Front (Remove and Install).
  7. Disconnect the electrical harness from the LH front airbag sensor connector.
  8. Disconnect the electrical harness from the center front airbag sensor connector.
  9. Disconnect the electrical harness from the RH front airbag sensor connector.
  10. Remove the bolts that attach the front bumper with the energy absorbers to the LH and RH crush cans.
  11. Carefully remove the front bumper with the energy absorbers from the vehicle.
    Caution:
    Do not damage the body when prying the front bumper.
    Note: Lightly tap the front bumper with a dead blow harmer to assist with removal of the front bumper.
  12. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the bottom of the cooling fan module to the ankle catcher, and then set the cooling fan module onto the front subframe.
    Note: Lift the condenser fan module up to ease removal of the bolts.
  13. Release the clips (x3) that attach the electrical harness to the LH front crush can.
  14. Remove the bolts (x4) that attach the LH front crush can to the LH front inner rail.
  15. Remove the bolt that attaches the LH front fender support to the LH front crush can.
  16. Remove the LH front crush can from the LH front inner rail.

2Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
3Remove the cabin intake duct. See Duct - Cabin Intake (Remove and Replace).
4Remove the hood latch cover. See Cover - Hood Latch (Remove and Replace).
5Remove the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace).
6Remove the front fascia assembly. See Fascia - Front (Remove and Install).
7Disconnect the electrical harness from the LH front airbag sensor connector.
8Disconnect the electrical harness from the center front airbag sensor connector.
9Disconnect the electrical harness from the RH front airbag sensor connector.
10Remove the bolts that attach the front bumper with the energy absorbers to the LH and RH crush cans.
11Carefully remove the front bumper with the energy absorbers from the vehicle.
Caution:
Do not damage the body when prying the front bumper.
Note: Lightly tap the front bumper with a dead blow harmer to assist with removal of the front bumper.
12Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the bottom of the cooling fan module to the ankle catcher, and then set the cooling fan module onto the front subframe.
Note: Lift the condenser fan module up to ease removal of the bolts.
13Release the clips (x3) that attach the electrical harness to the LH front crush can.
14Remove the bolts (x4) that attach the LH front crush can to the LH front inner rail.
15Remove the bolt that attaches the LH front fender support to the LH front crush can.
16Remove the LH front crush can from the LH front inner rail.

Install

  1. Install the LH front crush can into the LH front inner rail.
    Note: Lightly tap the crush can with a dead blow harmer to assist with installation into the inner rail.
  2. install the bolt that attaches the LH front fender support to the LH front crush can.
    Torque 35 Nm
  3. Install the bolts (x4) that attach the LH front crush can to the LH front inner rail.
    Torque 90 Nm
  4. Fasten the clips (x3) that attach the electrical harness to the LH front crush can.
  5. Lift the condenser fan module off of the front subframe, and then install the bolts (x2) that attach the bottom of the condenser fan module to the ankle catcher.
    Torque 10 Nm
    Note: Lift the condenser fan module up to ease installation of the bolts.
  6. Install the front bumper with energy absorbers into the LH and RH crush cans, and then install the bolts (x4) that attach the front bumper to the crush cans.
    Torque 75 Nm
  7. Connect the electrical harness to the RH front airbag sensor connector.
  8. Connect the electrical harness to the center front airbag sensor connector.
  9. Connect the electrical harness to the LH front airbag sensor connector.
  10. Install the front fascia assembly. See Fascia - Front (Remove and Install).
  11. Install the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace).
  12. Install the hood latch cover. See Cover - Hood Latch (Remove and Replace).
  13. Install the cabin intake duct. See Duct - Cabin Intake (Remove and Replace).
  14. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  15. Remove the vehicle from the lift.
1Install the LH front crush can into the LH front inner rail.
Note: Lightly tap the crush can with a dead blow harmer to assist with installation into the inner rail.
2install the bolt that attaches the LH front fender support to the LH front crush can.
Torque 35 Nm
3Install the bolts (x4) that attach the LH front crush can to the LH front inner rail.
Torque 90 Nm
4Fasten the clips (x3) that attach the electrical harness to the LH front crush can.
5Lift the condenser fan module off of the front subframe, and then install the bolts (x2) that attach the bottom of the condenser fan module to the ankle catcher.
Torque 10 Nm
Note: Lift the condenser fan module up to ease installation of the bolts.
6Install the front bumper with energy absorbers into the LH and RH crush cans, and then install the bolts (x4) that attach the front bumper to the crush cans.
Torque 75 Nm
7Connect the electrical harness to the RH front airbag sensor connector.
8Connect the electrical harness to the center front airbag sensor connector.
9Connect the electrical harness to the LH front airbag sensor connector.
10Install the front fascia assembly. See Fascia - Front (Remove and Install).
11Install the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace).
12Install the hood latch cover. See Cover - Hood Latch (Remove and Replace).
13Install the cabin intake duct. See Duct - Cabin Intake (Remove and Replace).
14Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
15Remove the vehicle from the lift.
