Steering Wheel (Remove and Install)

Remove

  1. Set the vehicle's front wheels straight and the steering wheel centered.
  2. Remove the 2nd row lower seat cushion. See Seat Cushion - Lower - 2nd Row (Remove and Replace).
  3. Open the hood.
  4. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  5. Disconnect 12V power. See 12V Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  6. Remove the driver airbag. See Airbag - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  7. Disconnect the steering wheel electrical wiring harness connector.
  8. Remove and discard the bolt that attaches the steering wheel to the steering column.
    Torque 80 Nm
  9. Mark the end of the steering column shaft and the steering wheel for alignment.
  10. Remove the steering wheel from the steering column.

3Open the hood.
4Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
5Disconnect 12V power. See 12V Power (Disconnect and Connect).
6Remove the driver airbag. See Airbag - Driver (Remove and Replace).
7Disconnect the steering wheel electrical wiring harness connector.
8Remove and discard the bolt that attaches the steering wheel to the steering column.
Torque 80 Nm
9Mark the end of the steering column shaft and the steering wheel for alignment.
10Remove the steering wheel from the steering column.

Install

Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:

Replace all patchbolts.
